Teeth whitening is the process of gently removing stains and discoloration from your teeth so that your teeth look bright once again. Teeth become discolored for a number of reasons including diet, aging, genetics or medicines. Smiles of Cary dentist Dr. Ferzli will be able to help determine the reason for your stained teeth by evaluating them and asking you questions about your diet and any medications you may be taking. The gradual discoloration of teeth is a common occurrence and occurs because the enamel on our teeth begins to hold stains within its pores causing it to become more dull and transparent. Teeth whitening procedures such as Zoom whitening work to remove the stains and debris that is contained within your enamel to give you a whiter brighter smile.
The Zoom Whitening Procedure
- The Zoom Whitening procedure begins with the preparation of your mouth so that your lips and gums are free from the chemicals that brighten your teeth. A special device is inserted into your mouth and leaves only your teeth exposed.
- Next our office will apply the Zoom Whitening gel that is designed to be used in conjunction with the Zoom light. Together the light and gel work together to gently penetrate the stains and discoloration on your teeth.
- While the gel and light work to remove stains and discoloration from your teeth you are free to relax, nap, or listen to music. The process is repeated for three fifteen minute sessions for a total treatment time of roughly 45 minutes.
- The entire Zoom Whitening treatment takes about an hour when you include the preparation and application sessions. After the final session you are free to go home with your new, whiter, brighter smile.
